I got this recipe in a package of cookie cutters that I purchased years ago. I use it for every holiday and my kids decorate them.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 cups flour

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400
  2. Cream butter and sugar with mixer
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla
  4. Combine flour and baking powder
  5. Mix in dry ingredients a cup at a time
  6. On floured surface roll out dought o 1/8" thick
  7. Dip cutters in flour before each use
  8. Bake on parchment lined cookie sheet on top rack of oven for 6-7 min.
  9. Cool on racks
  10. Decorate as desired
