An old fashione tea-time cake flavoured with caraway seeds

Ingredients
  • 8oz/225g Self Raising Flour sifted with 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 6oz/150g Butter at room temperature
  • 5oz/125g Sugar
  • 2 Eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 2 tablespoons caraway seeds

Directions
  1. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and pale in colour
  2. Add the beaten eggs a little at a time
  3. Stir in the sifted flour and baking powder
  4. Add the cold water
  5. Add the caraway seeds and give a final stir
  6. Bake in a moderate oven for one and a half hours
  7. Gas mark 6
  8. Electric 325f / 160-170c
