Homemade Caramels Recipe

Ingredients

How to make it

  • Melt butter in heavy 3 qt saucepan
  • Add brown sugar and salt stirring until thoroughly combined
  • Blend in corn syrup
  • Gradually add sweetened condensed milk
  • STIR CONSTANTLY OVER MED HEAT UNTIL CANDY REACHES 245 DEGREES
  • Remove from heat
  • Stir in vanilla
  • Pour into a buttered 9 x 13 pan
  • Cool
  • Cut into small pieces and wrap in wax paper

    I use to make a recipe like this with my mom yrs ago, but the recipe was lost after she passed away, thanks for posting. Can't wait to try them.

    Mom and I make a recipe very similar to this every single year at Christmas, but we use heavy cream and nuts. I'll have to post her recipe too sometime. God, this sounds good!!

    Well, boy, am I surprised! I just posted a recipe very similar to this called Caramel Kisses. I really didn't think anybody else knew one like it. My Granny used to make them.
