Homemade Caramels

- 1 cup butter or margarine shopping list
- 1 lb bag of brown sugar shopping list
- Dash of salt shopping list
- 1 cup of light corn syrup shopping list
- 1 can (15 oz) sweetened condensed milk shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- Melt butter in heavy 3 qt saucepan
- Add brown sugar and salt stirring until thoroughly combined
- Blend in corn syrup
- Gradually add sweetened condensed milk
- STIR CONSTANTLY OVER MED HEAT UNTIL CANDY REACHES 245 DEGREES
- Remove from heat
- Stir in vanilla
- Pour into a buttered 9 x 13 pan
- Cool
- Cut into small pieces and wrap in wax paper

Well, boy, am I surprised! I just posted a recipe very similar to this called Caramel Kisses. I really didn't think anybody else knew one like it. My Granny used to make them.
