Homemade Caramels Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup butter or margarine

1 lb bag of brown sugar

Dash of salt

1 cup of light corn syrup

1 can (15 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 tsp vanilla

Directions

Melt butter in heavy 3 qt saucepan

Add brown sugar and salt stirring until thoroughly combined

Blend in corn syrup

Gradually add sweetened condensed milk

STIR CONSTANTLY OVER MED HEAT UNTIL CANDY REACHES 245 DEGREES

Remove from heat

Stir in vanilla

Pour into a buttered 9 x 13 pan

Cool

Cut into small pieces and wrap in wax paper

Well, boy, am I surprised! I just posted a recipe very similar to this called Caramel Kisses. I really didn't think anybody else knew one like it. My Granny used to make them.
