Not your everyday baked beans. These are indescribable and absolutely my favorite. A Bean Pot is nice for this, but not necessary

Ingredients
  • 6 Cans Great Northern Beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 Pound Salt Pork
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 -1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tb Molasses
  • 1/2 Tb Dry Mustard
  • 1/2 Cup Catsup, or less
  • 1 Small Onion, chopped
  • Boiling Water

Directions
  1. Put beans into a deep casserole or bean pot.
  2. Mix all ingredients but the pork and pour over the beans.
  3. Place salt pork on top and push down under the surface.
  4. Add BOILING water to cover the beans.
  5. Bake 6-7 hours at 250 degrees .. ( Bake slowly all day )
  6. Add water from time to time if necessary to keep beans from getting dry.
  7. Makes 18 1/2 cup servings
