Layered Strawberry Cake

- 1 pkg. butter recipe golden cake mix shopping list
- 2/3 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 3 large eggs shopping list
- 1/2 cup strawberry preserves, divided shopping list
- 2 cups whipping cream shopping list
- 3 Tbsp. powdered sugar shopping list
- 2 qts. fresh strawberries, sliced shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Beat first 4 ingredients at low speed until cake is moistened.
- Beat at med. speed 4 minutes.
- Pour into 2 greased and floured 9" round cake pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool on wire rack 10 minutes; remove from pans.
- Brush tops of each layer with 2 Tbsp. Strawberry Preserves.
- Cool completely on wire racks.
- Beat remaining preserves with whipping cream and powdered sugar at high speed until stiff peaks form.
- Place 1 cake layer on a serving platter.
- Arrange 1/2 of strawberries over layer; top with 1/2 whipped cream mixture.
- Repeat procedure with remaining layer, strawberries and whipped cream mixture.
- Garnish with extra strawberries.
