How to make it

  • Heat oil in a heavy skillet (cast iron) over medium-high heat. Add the almonds and sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar. Saute until the almonds become golden brown and the sugar caramelizes, stirring constantly.
  • Remove almonds from the pan and toss in a bowl with the salt, cumin, cayenne and remaining sugar. Immediately spread over foil to cool. Break nuts apart using two forks. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

    They're really not that hot, but my-0-my are they good! And I LIKE spicy! And yes, the sugar does take some of the heat away. Try them, you'll like them.

    Sounds very good but they must be hotter then heck with that cayenne pepper? ... or does the sugar tone down the spicy heat? Thanks for the post.
