How to make it

  • Preheat the oven to 160°C/325°F. Butter and flour a 20cm×29cm×5cm baking tin.
  • Melt the chocolate and the butter together. Lightly whisk the eggs, sugar and vanilla essence and stir into the chocolate mixture. Fold in the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Fold in the pecans.
  • Pour into prepared tin and bake for 1 hour or until skewer comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool and cut into squares.
