How to make it

  • Cook Brussels sprouts according to package directions or your preferred method, then drain if you added water. (I like to cook mine in the microwave in a shallow dish for about 12 minutes on high, turning the dish twice).
  • While the Brussels sprouts are cooking, stir together flour and water in a heavy saucepan until smooth.
  • Add cream, salt and thyme and bring to a boil, stirring constantly so it does not burn or stick!
  • Turn down heat and simmer gently until it thickens slightly.
  • Mix in the cooked Brussels sprouts.
  • Top with bread crumbs and serve at once.
