How to make it

  • combine flour , brown sugar, and 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds
  • mix in or using pastry blender cut shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs
  • set aside about 1/2 cup of mixture
  • press remaning mixture down on ungreasssed 13 by 9 by 2 in baking pan
  • bake crust for 10 to 15 minutes
  • MEANWHILE in another bowl beat sugar cream cheese eggs and almond extract spread mixture over hot crust
  • bake for another 15 minutes
  • stir preserves and spread over cheese cake bars also put remainming 1/2 cup of topping sprinkled over preserves
  • bake yet another 10 to 8 minutes cool pan
  • chill for AT LEAST 3 hrs before cutting into bars
  • top with whatever fruit desired
  • ENJOY
