Manuka Pears And Blue Recipe

Manuka Pears And Blue Recipe
I never can decide on whether to have a sweet dessert or cheese after my meal if i'm out for dinner. A good friend of mine use to make this and it was unusual but delicious. These are used with good ol' kiwi ingredients, but easily substituted.

Ingredients
  • 2x season Pears, NZ; Taylors Gold is best
  • 3x Tbsp of a favourite good quality honey, NZ; Manuka
  • Blue cheese, NZ; Whitestones Windsor Blue
  • 2 Tbsp soft brown sugar
  • 1 cup of water

Directions
  1. Peel and half pears, take core out.
  2. Add honey, sugar and water into a pot
  3. What you want to do is caramalise the pears and form a sticky, saucy consistency
  4. Have it come to boil then simmer for about 20 minutes (the longer you leave the pears in honey sauce for the better the taste, I have left them over night and that worked extremely well)
  5. Make sure you keep stirring and turning pears
  6. Serve warm or cold
  7. Place 2x pears on each plate, pour over some remaining sauce and crumble as much blue cheese as you want on top
