An American classic made animal-friendly. I can't remember where I got this recipe.

Ingredients
  • 6 veggie dogs
  • 6 skewers
  • 1/2 c yellow corn meal
  • 1/2 c flour
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • egg replacer for 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 c soy milk
  • 1 tbsp melted shortening

Directions
  1. Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, mustard, baking powder and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add soy milk, egg replacer, and shortening, mix until very smooth.
  3. Pour mixture into tall glass. Skewer Smart Dogs on sticks and dip in cornmeal batter to coat evenly.
  4. Deep fry in oil heated to 350 degrees until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
