GREAT MEATBALLS WITH SAUCE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the McBride Estate in Austin, Texas in 1994.

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1-1/2 pounds ground turkey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 medium onion chopped and diced
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup saltines finely crushed
  • Sauce:
  • 2 cups catsup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions
  1. Mix together ground chuck and turkey then set aside.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients then add ground meats.
  3. Form ingredients into balls and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
  4. Combine sauce ingredients well then simmer in crock pot until flavors are blended.
  5. Add meat balls and let sauce be absorbed by the meat balls before serving.
