How to make it

  • Sift the first five dry ingredients together.
  • Add oil, milk and egg to the dry mix and stir with fork until mixed.
  • Heat enough oil (either wesson or crisco) for deep frying.
  • Drop batter by TEASPOONFUL into deep oil and fry until golden brown which could be a few minutes.
  • (Test middle of donut if cooked which determines if oil is hot enough or if cooked long enogh. Large puffs will not cook thru.)
  • Roll warm puffs in sugar and serve.
  • Makes 2 1/2 dozen puffs.
