How to make it

  • Preheat oven or broiler for the toast.
  • Cream cheese and butter together.
  • Add cognac then season with pepper and stir in walnuts.
  • Toast bread lightly on both sides then spread cheese over toast.
  • Return it to the oven or broiler just long enough for the butter and cheese to melt.
  • Remove toasts from oven then dust with more pepper and cut them into smaller pieces.
  • Serve warm.
