STOUT BEEF BUNDLES
From veg 15 years agoIngredients
- 1 lb ground beef (I used ground chuck) shopping list
- 1/2 c green onions, sliced shopping list
- 1 clove garlic minced (I used minced garlic in a jar and put through a garlic press) shopping list
- 2/3 c water chestnuts shopping list
- 1/2 c red bell pepper, chopped shopping list
- 1/4 c stout beer (I found this at Jungle Jim's, They sold it by the bottle @ $2.00) shopping list
- 2 Tbs Hoison Sauce (Found in the Chinese section) shopping list
- 1 Tbs soy sauce shopping list
- 2 Tbs fresh cilantro, chopped shopping list
- 1-2 heads of leafy lettuce (I used a bibb lettuce, romaine would shopping list
- probably work well. I think Iceberg might be harder to roll) shopping list
How to make it
- 1) Brown ground beef. Cook over med heat. Break up beef while cooking. Drain off fat. (I boil my meat)
- Add green onions and garlic. (You could use garlic powder, if that's what you have, but I probably
- would not use garlic salt The hoison and soy sauce are both salty.)
- 2) Stir in water chestnuts, bell pepper, stout, hoison and soy sauce.cook, stirring occasionally until the red
- pepper is crisp-tender & most of the liquid has evaporated.. Remove from heat.
- 3) Stir in cilantro. Spoon mixture over lettuce leaves. Wrap and tie off with green onion strips.
- Remember----this took both of us.
- They say this makes 8 servings.
- I was thinking, you could serve this as a main dish meal, just spooning mixture over the lettuce on a plate with corn, thinly sliced tomatoes and a slice of french bread and a couple of thinly sliced pieces of watermelon on the side.
- This would be a colorful presentation.
