How to make it

  • 1) Brown ground beef. Cook over med heat. Break up beef while cooking. Drain off fat. (I boil my meat)
  • Add green onions and garlic. (You could use garlic powder, if that's what you have, but I probably
  • would not use garlic salt The hoison and soy sauce are both salty.)
  • 2) Stir in water chestnuts, bell pepper, stout, hoison and soy sauce.cook, stirring occasionally until the red
  • pepper is crisp-tender & most of the liquid has evaporated.. Remove from heat.
  • 3) Stir in cilantro. Spoon mixture over lettuce leaves. Wrap and tie off with green onion strips.
  • Remember----this took both of us.
  • They say this makes 8 servings.
  • I was thinking, you could serve this as a main dish meal, just spooning mixture over the lettuce on a plate with corn, thinly sliced tomatoes and a slice of french bread and a couple of thinly sliced pieces of watermelon on the side.
  • This would be a colorful presentation.
