Pattycake / All my dishes 1 year, 5 months ago
This is a delicious healthy banana bread that I've been making for years. The recipe is flexible, optionally sugar-free and dairy-free, & can be embellished with chocolate, nuts, and fruit. A great way to use your over-ripe bananas!

Perfect! Not too much sugar and a good mix of whole grains!

This is great! I made it w/ whole wheat flour and spenda brown sugar. I didn't even add anything else. The house smell wonderful and my husband says it tastes like candy (that is what he says when I bake even slightly sweet things because we really don't eat sweets). I will be making this beautiful loaf again and again. I tried to post a pic of it on here (w/ my new camera), but it wouldn't show up...oh well. Thanks again!

This sounds great and being a diabetic I love low sugar-free options.

Very tasty banana bread! It has a subtle sweetness and a nice firm texture. I tried it with whole wheat flour, dark brown sugar, and ground walnuts which gave a nice earthy, wholesome taste. Baked up perfectly on the first try at exactly 50 minutes in my oven.

My tried and true banana loaf recipe has been replaced...never thought I'd see the day! This is a great recipe, and my new favourite...healthy, moist and delicious! I love the combination of dates and walnuts. The family loves it!

Delicious! My friend who was on a diet couldn't believe there wasn't any butter or oil in it! The banana bread is very moist and only mildly sweet. I used frozen bananas (defrosted of course), wholemeal flour, lactose free milk, chopped macadamia nuts and dates. It was a huge hit with DH too. Thanks for the great recipe!

I made this today, what a wonderful treat!! I used stone-ground whole wheat flour as it has a finer texture for breads, I substituted the sugar with Redpaths HALF sugar substitute, and I had 1 lonely banana left over so I threw it in too, very nice recipe. Thank you for posting.

Thanks so much for this recipe. My teenage boys made this themselves (and they don't cook much) and it turned out perfectly. They even cut back on the salt and sugar a bit (1/4 tsp & 1/3 cup respectively) and it was just excellent. We will definitely be making this again in the future.
