How to make it

  • Bring everything except vanilla and egg to a boil.
  • Lower heat to a gentle simmer
  • Cook and stir over an hour.
  • Take off heat, cool to warm and stir in beaten egg and vanilla.
  • Chill well.
  • Serve in dessert glasses
  • Serve with whipped cream

    I looked at the recipe again, and it was printed as given, so this could be a typo of either more rice ( 2 cups ) or less liquid. I ageree either less liquid or more rice~

    One cup of rice for two quarts of liquid produces rice soup--not pudding. Leave out the water
