How to make it

  • Put the mustard seeds into a small pan and cover with the oil. Heat them over a medium flame until they start to pop and become aromatic. Remove the pan from the heat and immediately pour the oil with the seeds into a small dish.
  • Put the diced cucumber into a large container and stir in the buttermilk, dill and salt.
  • When the mustard seeds are cool, stir them with their oil into the cucumber mixture.
  • Chill for at least four hours or overnight.
