How to make it

  • put all ingredients in a pan on low till dissolved
  • increase heat - boil rapidly uncovered 15min or till small amounts when dropped in cold water will harden and crack.(it should be a dark yellow colour)
  • When ready stand pot in cold water for 1 min then pour in patty pans.
  • place in fridge to harden

    does that turn out OK?
    just asking because I am a bit intrigued

    i would normally replace the water and vinegar with wipping cream, (white) sugar and (unsalted) butter :-)

    in Australia you call cup cake holders patty pans, for this recipe you really only need very small ones because the toffee is very sweet and it takes ages to eat.
