i made this for a school carnival, but if you have a kids B day party coming up they will love you for this one!

Ingredients
  • ,
  • 3c sugar
  • 1c water
  • 1/2 c vinegar

Directions
  1. put all ingredients in a pan on low till dissolved
  2. increase heat - boil rapidly uncovered 15min or till small amounts when dropped in cold water will harden and crack.(it should be a dark yellow colour)
  3. When ready stand pot in cold water for 1 min then pour in patty pans.
  4. place in fridge to harden

but help..."patty pans"??? kind and size???


In Australia you call cup cake holders patty pans, for this recipe you really only need very small ones because the toffee is very sweet and it takes ages to eat.


You have got vinegar in a candy!
does that turn out OK?
just asking because I am a bit intrigued

i would normally replace the water and vinegar with wipping cream, (white) sugar and (unsalted) butter :-)


Vinegar is fine, just go ahead and try it
