How to make it

  • 1. Grease a 2-qt square baking dish; place bread cubes in prepared dish. Sprinkle with chocolate piecesand, if desired, coconut.
  • 2. In a medium mixing bowl, beat sugar and peanut butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until well mixed. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and salt. Gradually stir in milk. Pour over bread, pressing down the bread to moisten all.
  • 3. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted halfway between the edge and the center comes out clean. Serve warm. Makes 8 servings.
  • **Note: To dry bread cubes, measure 3 1/2 cups fresh bread cubes. Spread in a single layer in a shallow pan; cover with waxed paper and let stand all day or all night.
