How to make it

  • Heat the oven to 325 degrees.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar. Add egg yolk and vanilla. One cup at a time, stir in flour mixture. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased or parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake 20-25 minutes or until very lightly browned.
  • Remove cookies from baking sheet and roll in powdered sugar while still slightly warm. Roll again after they have cooled completely.
  • Note: If you use salted butter, omit the 1/8 teaspoon salt, as there will be enough in the butter.
