How to make it
- Pour enough cold water over corned beef in a large soup pot just to cover.
- Add pickling spice (if using) and then heat to boiling; reduce heat.
- Cover and simmer until beef is tender, about 2 hours. Add cabbage. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 15 minutes.
