Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon Pickling Spice ; (optional), in tea ball
  • 5 cups Water
  • 4 pounds Corned Beef Brisket ; cut into 1" cubes
  • 1 Cabage, Head ; cut into wedges
  • 1 medium Onion ; diced

Directions
  1. Pour enough cold water over corned beef in a large soup pot just to cover.
  2. Add pickling spice (if using) and then heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  3. Cover and simmer until beef is tender, about 2 hours. Add cabbage. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 15 minutes.

I make this during the winter months and it is my husbands favorite. I add a can or bottle of beer to the water - it just makes it a little better! A 5 from me!
