Ingredients

How to make it

  • In a large mixing bowl combine all ingredients and 1/2 of the water.
  • Mix together with hands and continue adding water until dough forms a solid but not sticky ball.
  • If necessary add additional flour or water as needed.
  • Knead dough on a floured board for 5 minutes.
  • Cut dough in half and then in half again continuing the process until you have 8 equal portions.
  • Roll each piece into a ball then place on a lightly floured surface and cover with a damp towel.
  • Heat griddle or cast iron pan to medium heat.
  • Roll out dough one piece at a time to 1/4" thickness.
  • Place one round of dough on griddle and cook each side for 30 minutes.
  • Continue the process with the remaining 7 portions of dough.
  • The cooked tortillas will keep for two weeks in the refrigerator or up to six months in the freezer.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be 30 seconds, blombo, as other recipes which are similar stipulate thus. The last part is a bit like making pancakes.

I never made my own Tortillas, do they really cook 30 mins a side or 30 seconds?
