Chile Cheese Cornbread

- 1-1/8 cup yellow cornmeal shopping list
- 2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour shopping list
- 1-1/4 cups buttermilk shopping list
- 1 egg lightly beaten shopping list
- 1 egg white lightly beaten shopping list
- 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded shopping list
- 2 tablespoons mild green chilies chopped shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 450 and prepare square baking pan with cooking spray.
- Dust with tablespoons cornmeal.
- Sift into a large bowl the remaining cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour.
- In another bowl combine buttermilk, eggs, cheese and chilies then stir into dry ingredients.
- Pour batter into prepared baking pan and place in upper third of oven and bake 10 minutes.
- Cut into squares and serve.
