Sesame-Cheddar Turnovers

- Pastry: 8 oz. cream cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 1 1/2 C flour shopping list
- Filling: 8 oz. (2 C) shredded sharp cheddar shopping list
- 2 beaten eggs shopping list
- 1 TBS grated onion shopping list
- 1 tsp. prepared mustard (try Dijon) shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. hot pepper sauce shopping list
- 1/8 tsp. salt shopping list
- Topping: 1 egg beaten with 1 tsp. water shopping list
- sesame seeds shopping list
How to make it
- Make dough: Blend all ingredients well until crumbly.
- Form into a ball and wrap; chill at least 1 hour.
- Make filling: Mix all ingredients well; chill while rolling dough.
- Roll out chilled dough 1/8" thick. Cut out 3" circles or cut into squares, re-rolling scraps.
- Place a spoonful of filling on the center of each circle or square, fold in half to make crescents or triangles, and seal the edges well with a fork.
- Brush top with egg and sprinkle generously with sesame seeds.
- Bake on ungreased sheets at 400° 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Can be frozen after cooling and reheated straight from the freezer at 325° for 10-15 minutes if desired.
- Makes about 4 dozen.
