Ingredients
  • Filling:
  • 2 1/2 lbs (about 6) tart apples
  • 1 lb fresh rhubarb
  • 1 cup raisins (golden)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Topping:
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Directions
  1. Filling: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Peel and core apples and cut into 1 inch chunks. Clean the rhubarb and cut into 1 inch pieces. Combine the apples, rhubarb, raisins, brown sugar, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Place in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  2. Topping: Melt butter and pour into a roomy bowl. Stir in the two types of sugar. Add the cinnamon and baking powder and stir to blend. Next, add the flour and pecans and work the mixture until crumbly. Once the topping is crumbly, sprinkle over the filling. Bake for 45-55 minutes, until bubbling and browned. If the top seems to be getting dark too quickly, lay a piece of tin foil on the top, but do not seal it. Let it set for 30 minutes before serving.
