This recipe is from a friend. I think the 7-up gives it a unique flavor - very tasty!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/8 cup 7-Up (from 12-oz can)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • GLAZE
  • 2/3 box powdered sugar
  • rest of 7-Up in can
  • 1/2 tsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine flour, salt & baking soda and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together sugar and shortening.
  4. Add egg, vanilla and mix well.
  5. Add 7-Up a little at a time, alternating with flour mixture.
  6. Mix after each addition.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips.
  8. Bake in greased & floured jelly roll pan for 15 minutes.
  9. Top with glaze while still warm.
