Sassy Apple Tarte Tatin

- 1 rolled out pie crust, 1/4" thick shopping list
- 2 1/2 pounds granny smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2" shopping list
- slices shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 8 tablespoons butter shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 425F degrees.
- Place dough on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Refrigerate.
- In bowl, stir together apples, lemon juice and 1/2 cup sugar.
- Transfer to colander and let drain for 20 minutes.
- In 9" ovenproof saute pan over medium-high heat, melt butter.
- Stir in1 cup sugar.
- Cook, stirring, until mixture is bubbly caramel brown
- (10 to 15 minutes).
- Remove from heat.
- Arrange apples in pan, overlapping them.
- Set over medium heat andcook until apples are tender (about 20 minutes).
- Press down apples occasionally.
- Remove pan from heat and set on clean baking sheet.
- Place dough on top of apples.
- Trim edges leaving 1" overhang.
- Tuck overhanging dough into pan sides, cut 4 steam vents on top.
- Bake until crust is golden, about 20 minutes.
- Remove pan from oven and let stand 5 minutes.
- Using pot holder,gently shake pan.
- Place plate over pan.
- Quickly invert pan and plate together.
- Lift off pan and let syrup drip over tarte tatin.
- Let cool 30 minutes.
- Cut into slices and serve with your favorite ice cream
- ( esp vanilla caramel flavor ice cream ).
