How to make it

  • Mix flour, salt, and pepper together.
  • Dredge the beef cubes in the flour mixture.
  • Heat shortening in a large sauce pan.
  • Add beef and brown on all sides.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Cover tightly and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender, stirring ocassionally during cooking.
  • Add water as necessary to keep the stew from sticking to pan.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with the parsley, and serve it with boiled baby potatoes.
