Carbonnades a la Flamande

- 3 pounds boneless chuck, cut into 1" cubes shopping list
- 1 can (10 1/2 oz.) condensed beef broth shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 2 cups beer (ie. Budweiser, not light) shopping list
- 6 large onions, peeled and quartered shopping list
- 1/4 cup parsley shopping list
- 1/3 cup oil shopping list
- 1 large bay leaf shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. crumbled tyme shopping list
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped shopping list
- 2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tsp. black pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Mix flour, salt, and pepper together.
- Dredge the beef cubes in the flour mixture.
- Heat shortening in a large sauce pan.
- Add beef and brown on all sides.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Cover tightly and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender, stirring ocassionally during cooking.
- Add water as necessary to keep the stew from sticking to pan.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with the parsley, and serve it with boiled baby potatoes.
