Arizona Spicy Sweet Sauce Recipe

Arizona Spicy Sweet Sauce Recipe
We came up with this chili/spicy sweet combo to suit both our tastes. My husband loves spicy bbq sauce, while I love the smoky, sweet kind. This sauce made a good compromise for us.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard (yellow or spicy brown)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Chili sauce (such as Tapitio or Cholula, Sriricha works too)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • pinch oregano

Directions
  1. Heat saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Combine first 7 ingredients in saucepan. Cover with lid and stir occasionally for 10 minutes. (it will pop so keep that lid on!)
  3. Add chili sauce to taste, I usually put about 5-8 "glugs" or up to a couple teaspoons.
  4. Add paprika and oregano, stir to distribute.
  5. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer for another 15-20 minutes.
