From annielikestocook 15 years agoIngredients
- 4 cups boiling water shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 4 cups bran shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 2 cups wholemeal flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 250g dried fruit cake mix shopping list
- 1 cup roasted sunflower seeds shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda disolved in 2 tablespoons of water shopping list
How to make it
- Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celcius.
- Prepare two bread tins 21x11x7 cm by smearing insides with butter or spraying it with cooking spray.
- Pour the boiling water over the brown sugar and stir until sugar is disolved.
- Add the bran and mix well - let the mix cool down.
- Mix the rest of the ingredients and add to the bran mix.
- Mix all the ingredients well and dish into the prepared bread tins.
- Bake 1 hour or untill cooked - as ovens are different I have found that I needed to bake the breads a bit longer. Use a skewer or test needle to make sure that the bread is cooked right through.
- Tip: After about 20 minutes cover the bread with aluminium foil to prevent it from baking too dark.
- Turn out the breads onto a cooling rack to cool down.
- Makes 2 small loaves
