Chinese Steamed Fish

- 1 1/2 lbs. fish (white and mild such as halibut, cod, Sole) shopping list
- 3 green onions (cut into 3 inch lengths) shopping list
- 2 fresh mushrooms, sliced shopping list
- 6 leaves napa cabbage, sliced into 4 inch pieces shopping list
- 1/2 cup bean sprouts (optional but yummy) shopping list
- 2 slices fresh ginger root, finely chopped (Note: I buy my ginger from the market, chop it up using my food processor, put in a jar, and then refrigerate it so I can use it just like I would garlic when I cook.) shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped shopping list
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce shopping list
- 1/8 cup water shopping list
- crushed red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper, to taste shopping list
- Fresh cilantro, for presentation shopping list
How to make it
- Arrange 1/2 of the green onions on the bottom of the steaming bowl. Place 1/2 of the mushrooms and Napa cabbage sections on top.
- Place the fish on top of the vegetables.
- Sprinkle ginger, garlic, and red pepper over the fish.
- Top with the remaining green onions, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and napa cabbage.
- Drizzle with the soy sauce ad water.
- Steam for 15-20 minutes or until the fish flakes easily.
- Serve over cooked rice.
- Enjoy!
