Ingredients

How to make it

  • For the sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese or Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (2.25 ounce) can sliced ripe olives, drained (optional)
  • 1/3 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • In a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour until smooth; gradually stir in water. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Add the tomato sauce, chili powder, bouillon, cumin and salt. Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes or until thickened.
  • Pour over the burritos. Sprinkle with cheese, olives if desired and onions. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 10-20 minutes or until heated through.
