That Versitile Popping Kernel

- popcorn pops because of the moisture in the kernels. If you corn has lost it's pop... like it's been in storage a long time, (huh?) You will need to put the moisture back. Here's how: shopping list
- 1. Fill a quart jar 3/4 full with popcorn kernels shopping list
- 2. Add 1 Tablespoon of water shopping list
- 3. Cover jar and shake until water disapears shopping list
- 4. Let jar stand for two or three days (HUH?!?!) and the popcorn will be ready to pop. shopping list

- 3 tablespoons peanut oil shopping list
- 3 ounces popcorn kernels, approximately 1/2 cup shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon popcorn salt shopping list
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter shopping list
- Place the oil, popcorn and salt in a large, 6-quart, metal mixing bowl. Cover with heavy-duty aluminum foil and poke 10 slits in the top with a knife. shopping list
- Place the bowl over medium heat and shake constantly using a pair of tongs to hold the bowl. Continue shaking until the popcorn finishes popping, approximately 3 minutes. shopping list
- Remove the bowl from the heat and carefully remove the foil. Stir in any salt that is on the side of the bowl. shopping list
- Melt the butter in the microwave. Slowly drizzle over the popcorn, while spinning the bowl. Serve immediately. shopping list
How to make it
- Use super fine salt for your popcorn. You can make it yourself by whirling 1 cup kosher salt in a food processor until very fine.
- Add some grated orange or lemon, or lime peel (or some of all)
- Mix 4 cups poppped corn with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, place in a low oven for 5 minutes until cheese melts
- Drizzle with melted chocolate
- Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and lemon pepper
- Add curry, tarragon, basil to melted butter and pour over popcorn
- Melt 2 Tbs butter over low heat. Dissolve 1 chicken boullion into melted butter, drizzle over popcorn
- Sprinkle with chili powder and popcorn salt (see #1)
- Mix with dried fruits, toasted coconut, nuts or berries
- Eat it for breakfast like cereal, top with milk or cream, sugar and sliced fruit
- Serve with soup instead of crackers
- Sprinkle with herb salt
- Sprinkle with Old Bay Seasoning or Lawry's Season salt
- Sprinkle with a couple teaspoons of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing/dip mix.

Girl! Y'all MUST love popcorn as much as we do ~ thanks for the great tips and ideas. No telling how much popcorn I've thrown away because it had 'lost its pop'!
