How to make it

  • Place pan on burner then add stewed tomatoes and chicken broth.
  • Bring to a boil over high heat stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.
  • Add barley, corn, beans, carrots, oregano and pepper then reduce heat to medium low.
  • Cover and simmer 10 minutes longer stirring occasionally.
  • Serve immediately.

    I can't seem to find barley at my local market, I haven't asked yet, but I once asked for rye flour and they wanted me to buy a case of the stuff... so is there a brand of quick or regular barley you can recommend?
