Ingredients
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 tea baking powder
  • 1/4 tea salt
  • 1 1/2 tbl coconut flavoring

Directions
  1. cream shortening and sugar and oleo
  2. add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  3. add milk and dry ingredients [sifted togather]
  4. alternately, add flavoring and beat well.
  5. fold in coconut.
  6. bake 1 1/2 hours at 300 degrees in a large tube pan.
  7. NOTE be sure to use canned coconut----
  8. DO NOT use fresh or frozen as it will not work

Sounds great, Fro! Only difference between this one and mine is that I always use butter when I make it!! FIVE :+D


The recipe looks very good. However, one of the directions says to "fold in the coconut". Could you tell me how much coconut I should fold in? Thank you.
