Ingredients

1 cup cream

2 tablespoons corn syrup

pinch salt

1 tsp. almond extract (or vanilla)

3 1/3 cups semisweet chocolate chips (20 oz.)

1 cup powdered sugar

2 sticks butter, cut into pieces

Directions

Heat the cream and corn syrup in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes.

Put the chocolate chips in the stand mixer.

Slowly pour in the hot cream and mix until the chocolate is melted.

Add the pinch of salt (I use salted butter and omitted the salt).

Stir in the extract and powdered sugar.

Beat in the butter, one piece at a time. Allow each piece to be fully incorporated before adding the next one.

Cool in the refrigerator until thick and spreadable.

For a whipped buttercream frosting, beat with an electric mixer before spreading.
