Bake Sale Brownies

- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into chunks shopping list
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped (Ghirardelli 60%) shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2/3 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans shopping list
- confectioners sugar for dusting shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease an 8 inch pan ( or you can line an 8 inch pan with foil, then coat with vegetable spray). Melt the butter and chocolate together in the microwave, stirring often, 1 to 3 minutes. Let the mixture cool slightly.
- Whisk the sugar, eggs, vanilla, baking powder and salt together in a large bowl until combined. whisk in the melted chocolate mixture until smooth. Stir in the flour until no streaks remain.
- Scrape the batter into the prepare pan and smooth the top. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few crumbs attached.
- Let cool completely on a wire rack to room temperature. Dust the top of brownies with confectioners sugar Note: If you choose to line pan with foil, you can remove the whole baked brownie by lifting it out of the pan with the ends of the foil. Then after it cools you can pull the foil down around the edges to give all the pieces a more finished look.
