- This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Huddleston Estate in Arlington, Texas in 1989. shopping list
- 1-1/4 pounds ground beef shopping list
- 14-1/2 ounce can diced tomatoes with juice shopping list
- 8 ounce can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped white onion shopping list
- 1 garlic clove minced shopping list
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon chili powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon savory shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon oregano shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon parsley flakes shopping list
- 8-3/4 ounce can navy beans rinsed and drained shopping list
- 8-3/4 ounce can kidney beans rinsed and drained shopping list
- 8-3/4 ounce can lima beans rinsed and drained shopping list
- 5 pita breads halved shopping list
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
How to make it
- In heavy saucepan brown beef then drain.
- Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, brown sugar and seasonings.
- Cover and simmer 1 hour stirring occasionally then stir in beans and heat through.
- Spoon 1/2 cup mixture into each pita half then top with cheese if desired.
