How to make it
- Brown ground meats in large fry pan.
- Drain fat; place in bottom of crockpot or large stock pot if doing this stove top
- Brown the sausages whole, 1 or 2 per person, you know your guests
- Drain sausage on paper towels and set aside until later
- Add olive oil if the meats don't leave enough fat
- Saute the onions until lucid
- Add sliced garlic and saute 3 to 4 more minutes
- Add green pepper and mushrooms and saute about 5 more minutes
- Place all of this on top of meats in pot
- Stir
- Add the tomatoes and all of the spices.
- Add the wine - to your taste
- Stir together really well
- Bring to a boil and then simmer 4 to 6 hours on stove top stirring every 30 minutes or so
- Bring to boil on high in crockpot and then turn to low for 6 to 8 hours
- Should only need one or two stirs ( but maybe more tastings)
- Don't be afraid to add anything else as it cooks along
- Whether stock pot or crockpot stuff the sausages in for the last hour of cooking.
- Remember to remove bay leaves before serving
- Prepare your favorite pasta
- Serve with lots of freshly grated Romano-Parmesan Cheese or the Four-Italian cheese blend
