How to make it

  • Sift in the flour and salt.
  • Rub in the butter
  • Add in in the mustard and cayenne and the cheese
  • Add all the milk ,keep a bit back for
  • the top.
  • Turn out cut into 1cm thick rounds on a 6cm cutter.
  • Put on a tray 230c/450f/ gas 8
  • Brush top milk and cheese.
  • bake for about 10-15 mins.

    I did make them, although I did not have self rising flour, I added an appropriate amount of baking powder and went ahead.
    I ended up cutting them into tiny squares a bit less than 1" before baking and eating some for lunch while serving the rest heated a bit as nibbles with wine before a dinner party. They are very good!
