Almond Macaroons

- 2 medium egg whites shopping list
- 8 oz caster sugar shopping list
- 4 oz ground almonds shopping list
- 1/4 tsp almond essence shopping list
- 25 whole blanched almonds shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven. Whisk the egg whites until stiff. Gradually fold in the sugar, then stir in the ground almonds and almond essence to form a firm paste.
- Put teaspoonfuls of the mixture on to baking trays lined with baking parchment, spacing them slightly apart, and press a whole almond into each.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until just golden and firm to touch.
- Leave to cool a little, then transfer from the baking trays to wire racks to cool completely. Store in airtight containers until ready to eat.
