From blueeyes68ky 16 years agoIngredients
- 2 c. flour shopping list
- 2 Tbsps. sugar shopping list
- 2 Tbsps. butter shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/4 c. water shopping list
- 3/4 c. milk shopping list
- 1 pkg. dry yeast shopping list
How to make it
- Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup water.
- In a pan scald milk and add to it the salt, sugar and butter, when the butter is melted, pour out of the pan into mixing bowl.
- When milk is cool add yeast and flour and stir to mix thoroughly.
- Dough will be sticky---turn onto a heavily floured board (about 1 cup) and begin to knead.
- Knead at least 10 minutes or longer if desired, form in a smooth ball and place in a greased bowl, cover with damp towel and let rise at least 1 hour.
- Punch down and form into rolls or loaf, let rise one more hour and bake.
- By adding 1 egg, this makes excellent donuts or cinnamon rolls.
- By adding water instead of milk, this makes excellent French Bread.
- Bake at about 350 - 375 degree oven for loaf 45 minutes, for rolls about 15 minutes.
- Yield 1 loaf or 12 rolls.
