How to make it

  • Mix sugar and milk together.
  • Put peanut butter in a small bowl so you can just dump it in when ready. Cook on medium heat until it comes to a boil. Add candy thermometer. Now most people cook their fudge until it reaches soft ball on the thermometer. I've found if I do this recipe that way it is way too hard. I also use the cold water test. When it can be dropped into cold water and you can pick it up and roll it into a ball, that's when I turn off the heat. It is never at soft ball on the thermometer when this occurs. I leave it on the burner and stir in the peanut butter until it is dissolved and then pour into a square foil pan that I've buttered. When cut it will make chunks. If you like it thinner then spread onto a buttered cookie sheet.
  • Actually this makes just under 3 pounds since they dropped the peanut butter to a 17 ounce jar.

Thanks for the extra instruction. Those little idiosyncrasies are what make alot of recipes work.
