This is an old Scottish recipe traditionally served on New Year's morning, or the night before a wedding. Personally, I'm not too sure if this concoction would help or hinder a hangover.

Ingredients
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 6 cups (1.5 L) pale ale
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp (25 ml) sugar
  • 3/4 cup (175 ml) whiskey

Directions
  1. Beat the eggs in a large bowl and set aside.
  2. Pour the ale into a saucepan and stir in the nutmeg.
  3. Heat to nearly boiling, stir in the sugar, and remove from heat.
  4. Stir 1/4 cup (50 ml) of the hot liquid into the eggs.
  5. Stir in the rest of the liquid slowly, stirring constantly.
  6. Stir in the whiskey and return the mixture to the saucepan.
  7. Heat to near the boiling point, stirring constantly. Do not allow it to boil.
  8. Pour into a drinking tankard and proceed to pouring the "het" pint back and fourth between the saucepan and the tankard until a froth forms.
  9. Serve at once.
