How to make it

  • Preheat your oven to its lowest temperature.
  • Combine water and dry ingredients (not cornmeal though).
  • Knead on a floured surface till smooth.
  • Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and place in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes.
  • * i find an open oven that has been on the lowest setting a good spot *
  • (get all your pizza toppings ready while youre wating)
  • When the dough has risen (should be about double in size) punch it down and knead it a bit more.
  • Preheat oven to 220 celcius.
  • Divide into two equal portions, roll out into pizza shape and place on your pizza pan/baking tray, that has been sprinkled with cornmeal.
  • Top with whatever and bake for 15 minutes.

This is a great receipe for a thick pizza base. I put too much water in, so had to add more flour. I completed two pizzas and they went into the oven.
There was a bit of dough left over and toppings also left over. Well, I rolled the pastry very thin, added toppings and made it into a big sausage roll and froze it. A week later, I reheated it. This had to be the best leftovers I have ever had.
