How to make it

  • Cut the onions in half, and then slice them into 1/8-inch thick half-rounds. (You will have about 3 cups of onions) Heat the butter and oil in a large sauté pan on medium heat. Add the onions, cayenne, salt and pepper and sauté for 10 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally
  • Make dip up to 2 days in advance. Store in tightly sealed container in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature and stir before serving

  • Serve this onion dip with crispy crackers or bread, potato chips or vegetable crudités for dipping.

    Sounds like the perfect dip. My Husband would like this one. I just made spinach dip today. All this week I have been making something new everyday trying it out on my Sisters. This way I know what everyone will like. So I will make this one over the weekend while we are getting our menus done and getting ready for the big cookoff for Thanksgiving. We all big something different, who ever wins the best dish thats who gets the wish bone. I know sounds silly but there are so many of us who wants that dang wish bone. Take care Sue
