How to make it

  • Rinse asparagus and discard tough ends. Snap into pieces or leave whole.
  • In a skillet over medium-high, heat butter and brown sugar until sugar is dissolved.
  • Add asparagus; saute for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in chicken broth and sesame oil; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until asparagus is crisp-tender (I like very crisp veggies...if you prefer mushier, softer asparagus just let it go 5 or so minutes longer).
  • Remove asparagus to a serving dish and keep warm.
  • Cook sauce, uncovered, until reduced by half.
  • Pour over asparagus and serve immediately.
