Old Fashioned Steamed Christmas Pudding

- 1/2 lb. ground suet or shortening shopping list
- 2 c. brown sugar shopping list
- 4 c. crumbled bread with crust removed shopping list
- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. each salt, cinnamon & nutmeg shopping list
- 1 lb. golden raisins shopping list
- 1 c. currants shopping list
- 1 1/2 c. seedless raisins shopping list
- 1/2 c. mixed candied peel shopping list
- 1/2 c. sliced cherries shopping list
- 4 eggs, beaten shopping list
- 1/4 c. dark molasses shopping list
- 1/2 c. brandy (or milk) shopping list
- Grated rind & juice of 1 orange shopping list
- 2 tsp. lemon juice shopping list
- 1 8 oz jar mixed berry jam shopping list
- 1 ½ cups chopped English walnuts shopping list
- SAUCE FOR plum PUDDING: shopping list
- 1 egg yolk shopping list
- 3/4 c. powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 to 2 tbsp. rum or brandy shopping list
- 1 whipped egg white shopping list
- 1/2 c. whipped cream shopping list
How to make it
- Mix all dry ingredients together, and then work in liquids. (Best mixed with the fingers like a pie crust.)
- Spoon into a greased pudding mold . Cover with foil and steam 3 to 4 hours.
- Makes 24 generous servings. Freezes well
- SAUCE FOR PLUM PUDDING:
- Beat egg yolk with powdered sugar and rum or brandy. Fold in whipped egg white and whipped cream.
- Serve over pudding portion or let guest serve them self's
