Almond Rice
From mbeards2 16 years agoIngredients
- 1 3/4 cups long-grain white rice, uncooked shopping list
- 3 cups broth (vegetable or chicken, your preference) shopping list
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted shopping list
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter shopping list
- 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
How to make it
- Melt the butter in the pan you plan to cook the rice in.
- Turn up the heat and add the rice. Stir the rice to coat it with the butter.
- Now this step might sound strange, but fry the rice until it starts to turn brown, stirring frequently. This gives the rice a nutty flavor that goes well with the almonds.
- Turn down the heat to low, add the onion flakes, salt and broth.
- Cover the pan and let the rice cook until it is tender, about 20 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and fluff the rice with a fork.
- Stir in the toasted almonds and serve.
