Ingredients

How to make it

  • Melt the butter in the pan you plan to cook the rice in.
  • Turn up the heat and add the rice. Stir the rice to coat it with the butter.
  • Now this step might sound strange, but fry the rice until it starts to turn brown, stirring frequently. This gives the rice a nutty flavor that goes well with the almonds.
  • Turn down the heat to low, add the onion flakes, salt and broth.
  • Cover the pan and let the rice cook until it is tender, about 20 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and fluff the rice with a fork.
  • Stir in the toasted almonds and serve.

This looks great! I always saute the rice in butter or oil when I make pilafs.

Love rice and almonds! Browning the rice makes it very flavorful!

This sounds delightful! I have a recipe from a friend in the 1970s with 2 or 3 times more butter, and I don't make it very often.
My husband will be happy too!!! thanks!!!!! (5)
